Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lute?

Lute is a collection of 8,000 unique and randomized musical identities created as a nod to Loot (for Adventurers). Each Lute “band” can be claimed for free, plus gas. Each Lute band contains 8 items: a genre, three instruments, a musical influence, a touring vehicle, a preferred venue, and a “star-quality” rider request.

Lute is an unaudited project. Bands #1 to #7777 are claimable by anyone and #7778 to #8000 are currently reserved for the contract developers.

Who is behind Lute?

The 11 Lute founders are individuals passionate about music and NFTs who met on a shared Discord server.

Why is Lute special?

Lute is certainly not the first project of its kind. However, it attempts to take the Loot craze to an entirely new audience and genre—music. With no company, art, or attributes, Lute has no boundaries. The instruments, influences, genres, and other particulars are simply the foundation of our collective effort to fill the airwaves of the nascent metaverse. For example, each of the “rider requests” are real—either a reported request of a real life “star,” something experienced by a Lute team member, or simply a sign of what could be when NFTs become a token of currency in the world of music. So, whether you have plans to take over the Shillboard Hot 100 or just want to piss off your neighbors, these traits await your exploration and interpretation. Feel free to use Lute in any way you want.

Does Lute have rarities?

The TLDR; is yes. For a more detailed explanation, please see our Rarity page.

Can I build with Lute?

Yes, you are free to use Lute in any way you want. The team behind Lute is open to facilitating community projects and resources, but Lute is meant to be built and used creatively by you.

Am I priced out of Lute?

Lute is being released for free. Anyone with an Ethereum wallet can mint Lute. The only costs to you are the Ethereum network gas fees.

How do I value Lute bands?

They say that value is always in the eye of the beholder. Lute is no different, with no explicit rarities specified at launch. How you value a Lute band is up to you.

Still, the Lute team has made some traits more common to mint than others. And there are some Easter eggs for minters to uncover—that mean something to the NFT world or the Lute team members themselves.

Remember, use your own discretion when valuing a Lute band.
